Tower Hamlets wants to build on the John Orwell site
We absolutely support the need for more social housing. But John Orwell is one of very few sports and leisure facilities serving our densely populated borough, and its indoor facilities and playing fields are used by many clubs, organisations and community groups.
It is also a much-loved part of Wapping’s heritage and local identity. A major housing development could put the future, viability and very existence of this community sports centre at risk.
